The university was hit by severe weather, causing damage to the soccer field, the physical plant and trees on campus.
The soccer field’s bleachers were blown from their location onto a neighbor’s front yard, the other set of bleachers was caught in a power line on the east side of the field, and several trees on campus are down or have fallen limbs.
Leslie Berger, senior director of university communications, sent out an email updating students on the cleanup:
Oklahoma City University is actively working to clear debris from campus. Straight-line winds this morning downed power lines and trees, blew over bleachers from the soccer field, and damaged the physical plant, which interrupted hot water service to campus.
OG&E is on campus checking power lines. Facilities crews are working to clear debris and have re-established hot water service to campus while repairs continue. The cafeteria will be open during regular hours today.
Students are encouraged to remain indoors while clean-up continues.
The caf will open at regular hours, but students are encouraged to stay indoors.
