Women who did not go through formal rush at the beginning of the academic year, or who are curious about Greek life will have another opportunity to join an organization through informal recruitment.
Alpha Chi Omega and Phi Mu will be participating in spring informal recruitment for women interested in joining their organization from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 10 and from 2-4 p.m. Feb. 11. The parties will be hosted in the sorority houses at Nellie R. Melton Panhellenic Quadrangle.
“This is an informal opportunity for women interested in the Greek system to come by, meet these terrific women, and learn a little bit more about our community,” said Levi Harrel, assistant director of student development.
Informal recruitment is more structured than continuous open bidding, where students are offered bids on a rolling basis, but still more relaxed than formal recruitment in the fall. There is no fee for informal recruitment however women should register online before the event, though it is not required to register it is encouraged.
“I would want to encourage people to come out to informal recruitment because even if they feel like Greek life is not for them it’s still a fun way to get to meet new people,” said Sydney Hughes, music theater senior and Phi Mu member.
The amount of bids that will be handed out and when they will be presented is up to each organization. For more information contact Levi Harrel at ljharrel@okcu.edu.
