A student hit the brick sign outside of the Cokesbury Apartments gate with their car Oct. 3, around 8:15 p.m.
The sign was smashed, and facilities cleared away the debris this morning.
“We don’t know the specifics, but apparently there were screeching tires and a loud crash,” said Monica Thompson, Cokesbury RA. “An RA came out to look, and the sign was gone.”
The student’s hand slipped on the wheel, and he accidentally hit the sign. No one was injured in the crash, and his car was not totaled. He called OCUPD right away, said Liz Harney, associate director of student housing and apartments.
“Facilities will replace the sign as soon as possible,” Harney said.
