Campus police is investigating a reported vehicle theft in Cokesbury Court Apartments.
The OCU police department sent out an email earlier today letting students know of the theft and warning them to secure their cars and other valuables
“Before this incident, the last reported ‘on-campus’ vehicle theft was in 2013,” according to the email.
There is no evidence or suspects at this point, said Bradd Brown, chief of police.
“We’ve reviewed the video of it, and the way the vehicle left we don’t have any video of it or the actual theft,” he said.
Only the east exit is currently under video surveillance, so the culprit had to use the exit along Virginia Ave, Brown said.
“There’s more video cameras that have been purchased for Cokesbury that are getting ready to be installed, but they haven’t been installed at this time,” he said. “They’re working with the contractor to get that done.”
Brown said students should be vigilant in keeping their personal items secure, and they should report any suspicious activities or persons.
“Don’t hesitate to call our number so we can have an officer check things out,” he said.
The number for the police department’s non-emergency line is 405-208-5001. The emergency line is 405-208-5911
