The baseball team fell from the Sooner Athletic Conference baseball tournament after 12-8 loss to Texas Wesleyan on May 7 at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars rallied with five runs in the top of the eighth inning, but Texas Wesleyan responded with four runs in the bottom of the eighth. Oklahoma City went to 38-19.
The National Alliance of Intercollegiate Athletics Championship Opening Round pairings will be announced 3 p.m. May 13. The team received votes in the most previous NAIA rankings.
The Stars tied the game 8-8 in the eighth as Senior Outfielder Joe Haddox clubbed a two-out, two-run home run over the center-field wall.
Junior Outfielder Cory Linn belted a two-run blast over the left-field to cut the Stars’ deficit to 8-5 and ignite OCU’s eight-inning rally. Junior Infielder Skyler Bean smacked a pinch-hit RBI single to right to slice Texas Wesleyan’s lead to 8-6.
The Stars erased Texas Wesleyan’s 7-0 second-inning advantage. Senior Infielders Hunter Marcum and Landon Coon hit run-scoring base hits in the third to give OCU its first two runs of the game. Senior Outfielder Dilon Argo doubled into the right-center field gap to knock in the Stars’ third run of the contest in the seventh.
Argo went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored, and Sophomore Infielder Garrett Foster was 2-for-4 with two runs scored for OCU. Haddox and Linn each brought in two runs.
