Student Government Association’s Senate unanimously passed a Summer budget during their final meeting of the year.
Holly Randall, SGA vice president and Senate president, was in charge of making sure the budget was passed.
The budget is divided into the following categories:
- salaries for high officers $3,235,
- salaries for other officers $3,670,
- discretionary $500,
- operating costs $2,650,
- miscellaneous $2,200, and
- total requested $12,255.
SGA is not using all their money this summer, they have surplus funds of $56,671.
“All unused money rolls over to the fall budget,” President Nic Rhodes said. “These numbers are not the exact expenditures, and allow for some level of discrepancy in spending.”
During the meeting, President Nic Rhodes and other high officers shared their goals for the next academic year. Both Rhodes and Jeffrey Matthews, secretary of policies and initiatives, said they want to have work done to the intramural field during the summer.
The budget allotted $1,700 for maintenance and beautification of the intramural field under the miscellaneous category. Rhodes already had discussions regarding the field with Josh Hall, assistant director of student life, intramural sports and recreation.
“After talking to Josh Hall, it looks like we can level the intramural field over the summer so that it’s ready for Fall intramural sports,” he said. “But it looks like it will only cost $1,000 on our end.”
