The OCU police department sent out an email on April 14 reminding students to keep dorms, apartments and vehicles locked.
OCUPD said the email was sent out because of some minor events, but not one in particular.
In the email, OCUPD encourages people to report anything suspicious on campus:
Taking a few precautionary measures can help deter burglaries and suspicious activity. It is also important to immediately report any suspicious activity on campus.
Ali Bryant, biomedical science/Spanish senior, said her car was broken into recently. Her car had been parked in the Draper parking lot, surrounded by other cars when it happened. She said it has to have happened between 9 p.m. and about 11 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Bryant said her window was pried open and the ignition was completely mangled. She said $120 also was stolen from her glovebox.
Bradd Brown, chief of police, was not available for comment.
OCUPD reminds the community that officer escorts are available 24/7.
To request an officer escort, call OCUPD at 405-208-5001. To report suspicious activity, call at 405-208-5911.
