The Oklahoma City University Filmmaker’s Guild will host the first annual Film Fest to feature films made by OCU students.
The event will last from 7-10 p.m. April 14 on the quad. Administration is free, and popcorn and other snacks will be available. Film Guild t-shirts will also be available for purchase. Money raised will fund the production of a film written by freshman guild member Blaze Stark.
“This event is essential to the film program and the growth of the students within it,” said Alexander Knight, film production senior. “Because there aren’t any other film festivals on campus, this is a rare opportunity for students to have their films screened in public for an audience.”
Public screenings are important for film students, in order for them to publicly present their art and receive feedback, Knight said.
One student is excited for her peers to see the guild’s work.
“It’s going to be really cool to watch these films made by our classmates,” said Hannah Rogers, film production freshman. “These films are all unique.”
