A group of students gather daily to pray for the university and the community.
Alyson Morse, kinesiology sophomore, started the group after Winter Break.
“My eyes were just opened up to the power of prayer, it’s like talking directly to God and people have become so used to it we don’t realize how important it is,” she said. The group was originally made from students who met at the community group Frontline and now is inviting all students to join.
The group focuses on prayer for campus community and special requests from students for specific people in their lives.
“We just focus on people we see every day walking to class and how we can love on them,” Morse said.
The group also reads from the book Jesus Calling and from the bible during their meetings.
Students of all faiths and denominations are welcome to join a meeting. The group meets at 8:40 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 7:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays outside of the caf in Tom and Brenda McDaniel University Center. Meetings last between 10 to 15 minutes.
“It’s been really good in opening my eyes to see what’s going on campus and where the Holy Spirit moves instead of just going about my day not realizing,” said Judah Maxwell, kinesiology junior and regular attendant of the prayer group.
