The men’s soccer team won against Wayland Baptist University (Texas) 2-0 on Wednesday Oct. 28 at J.V. Hilliard Field.
Junior midfielder Fabian Henningsen and freshman defender Henrik Verolet each scored a goal against Wayland Baptist. OCU improved to 6-8 and 6-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference men’s soccer.
Henningsen’s goal came in the 29th minute off an assist by freshman midfielder Petar Djurdjevic. The goal marked Henningsen’s first of the season. The assist was Djurdjevic’s fourth of the season.
Sophomore forward Logan Stewart assisted Verolet in the 62nd minute to extend the Stars’ lead. The goal marked Verolet’s first collegiate goal. The assist was Stewart’s fourth of the season.
Sophomore goalkeeper Vladimir Kalajdzic registered six saves and notched his fourth shutout of the season.
The Pioneers held the shot advantage 13-11 with 6 shots on goal to the Stars’ 5.
The Stars conclude regular season play at 3 p.m. Saturday Oct. 31 against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha, Okla.
