The baseball team will have a special game to celebrate Halloween.
The team is expanding its annual Halloween game fundraiser this year to include the student body. The team is scheduled to host an inter-squad baseball game at 5 p.m. Saturday at Jim Wade stadium. Players will wear costumes throughout the game and spectators are encouraged to wear costumes as well.
There will be a costume contest with prizes awarded, Senior Catcher/Outfielder Dylan Delso said.
“After the game, we’ll also have a pumpkin carving contest and a kickball game for everyone who comes to the stadium,” he said.
Delso and Junior Infielder Hunter Marcum decided to expand the event to spread publicity for the baseball team and unite the campus in a fun way. The team asks for $5 or canned goods as an admission fee.
The cans will contribute to the athletic department canned food drive. The money will go to the team. Players’ moms will bake desserts to sell at the concession stand to raise additional money for the team.
“We want to get the whole campus involved to have a good time for a good cause,” Coach Denney Crabaugh said. “Hopefully, the game is successful enough to continue in the future as an official Homecoming event.”
