The women’s soccer team tied John Brown (Ark.) 1-1 on Tuesday Oct. 6 at Stars Field in the Stars’ second Sooner Athletic Conference game of the season. OCU moves to 5-3-1, 1-0-1 in the SAC, while JBU now stands at 6-5-1, 2-0-1.
Freshman goalkeeper Kirsten Thomas registered two saves in the game including a penalty kick in the final minute that kept the game tied and forced overtime.
Both goals of the evening came off of penalty kicks. The first goal came from senior forward Ailee Thompson after a foul was called in the box in the 48th minute. The Golden Eagles tied the game in the 69th minute after a Stars foul in the box.
Thomas’ record in the net moved to 4-3-1 on the season. Each team took 17 shots during the game. The Stars recorded five shots on goal to the Golden Eagles’ three.
OCU is back in action 2 p.m. Saturday Oct. 10 against Southwestern Christian in Bethany, Okla.
