Career Services is offering “Majors, Minors and More,” an event featuring the different academic programs available at OCU.
The new event is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Bill and Pam Shdeed Lounge in Tom and Brenda McDaniel University Center. It is open to all students.
Majors, Minors and More was created to allow students to gather information directly from the faculty and staff regarding the different majors and minors offered on campus, all in one casual setting. The one-day event offers individualized attention for students to help them understand the different majors and minors that could improve their skill set.
“We invited everybody. A large percentage of representatives are from Arts and Sciences,” said Amelia Hurt, director of Career Services. “At least 15 different areas are covered so far.”
Students can get help with choosing from options that will get them ready for their careers.
“The event sounds like a good idea for those who still don’t know what they want to do,” said Sarah Cason, psychology junior.
There is a list of questions for each student to help them make the choice most suitable for them.
Some departments will bring student representatives to share their experiences to allow students get a better idea of what the programs would be like.
Representatives from the study abroad office, registrar and Honors Program also will be at the event to answer any questions regarding paperwork.
“We want this to be a good resource for all students,” Hurt said. “Students should take advantage of the information that will be available.”
