The School of Theater and Oklahoma City Repertory Theater will collaborate to present Peter and the Starcatcher.
Peter and the Starcatcher is a five-time Tony Award winning Broadway hit based on the novel of the same name by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson.
Peter and the Starcatcher is the grown-up prequel to the classic story of Peter Pan.
The play, directed by Michael Jones, explains how Neverland and its inhabitants came to be.
“I’ve really loved getting to be a part of this production because I get the opportunity to bring such a magical story to life,” said Olivia Cinquepalmi, acting junior, who plays Molly in the show. “I’ve learned so much during this process, and I’ve fallen even more in love with this timeless tale.”
The production brings together professional actors within the community and performers training at OCU. The School of Theater’s production season will also include a staged reading of Oxygen, Festival of Solo Performances and The Man Who Came to Dinner.
“I’d like to see the show,” said Cassandra Velasco, cell and molecular biology sophomore. “I wanna see all the shows this year.”
Peter and the Starcatcher opens runs Sept. 18 through Sept. 27 in Burg Theater of Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Center.
The understudy cast will perform at 8 p.m. Sept. 24. This cast is made up of all students and no Equity members.
