Live! on the Quad is an opportunities festival being offered this semester by the office of First-Year Experience.
Students will have an opportunity to learn about and get involved in student organizations, study abroad, internships and future careers, and service opportunities. The outside volunteer organizations attending are Freedom Oklahoma, Family Builders, United Way of Central Oklahoma Volunteer Center, Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City Orchestra League, Big Brothers Big Sisters and The Mentoring Project. There will also be prizes, music and free food.
The event will be hosted from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 3 on the Quad lawn.
Live! on the Quad will be replacing the Involved Fair that students have attended in the past.
“Live on the Quad takes the idea of the Involved Fair and adds even more events to it,” said Levi Harrel, assistant director of student development. “The event was reimagined so that students would be able to maximize their experiences with the volunteer and involvement fairs by combining the events into one. This event is a “one stop shop” for students who attend, it really breathes some new life into the event.”
Staff and students alike are excited about the new event.
“I found out about it in my stars week packet and immediately wrote it in my planner,” said Meghan Bradley, dance freshman. “I think it’s a great way to find out about groups and activities you wouldn’t have known about before the event.”
