A leak in a drain line was discovered in Walker Hall dormitory around 1 p.m yesterday.
The 17 affected students will be unable to use their bathrooms until the leak is fixed by OCU Facilities. The leak impacted odd numbered rooms in B hall on the fourth through the seventh floors.
“We notified the affected students yesterday and had an informational meeting with them,” said Dr. Liz Donnelly, senior director of housing and residence life. “We made sure that they understood and offered to move them into unassigned rooms until the leak is fixed.”
Some students opted to move to the unassigned rooms in Walker Hall , while other chose to stay in their rooms.
Parents were notified by email of the situation, Donnelly said.
Facilities will be working to fix the leak from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until the repairs are complete.
“It is excepted to take about six to eight days to fix,” Donnelly said. “Facilities is working hard to get students back into their rooms.”
Donnelly said they will be communicating with affected students via email on the progress of the repairs.
Mark Clouse, director of facilities, was unavailable to comment on Aug. 27.
