Students can enjoy free food inside during the Welcome Back Picnic this year.
The picnic was moved inside because of heat concerns. The event has been hosted outside on the quad for several years, offering free food and live steel drum music from student performers.
“We moved it inside because it was always so hot,” said Cobi Beam, corrdinator or first year experience. “It needs to be something that is comfortable for students as well as parents.”
The picnic will be hosted at 5 p.m. inside the caf, with a sundae bar in the student lounge in Tom and Brenda McDaniel University Center. The food is provided by Sodexo, the campus food provider.
“I think it will be nice to be inside,” said Mackenzie Jones, dance freshman. “Most of what we are doing today will be outside or working on putting our rooms together, it will be nice to cool down for a little bit.”
