- Josh Hutcherson is joining the cast of James Franco’s upcoming The Long Home. Hutcherson will play a young man in the 1940’s who goes to work for a Tennessee bootlegger, unaware that the man murdered his father. The script is based on William Gay’s novel of the same name. - Spike Lee spoke out about his disappointment with digital movie viewing at Variety’s Entertainment and Technology conference. “I know I’m a dinosaur,” he said of his distaste for those who watch films on their smartphones. “I know it’s not a popular view, but as a filmmaker — we kill ourselves with editing. - Dakota Fanning and Helen Hunt are set to star in Please Stand By, a new film from Ben Lewin. Fanning will play a young woman with autism who escapes her care home to submit her screenplay to a Hollywood competition, all the while tailed by her caregiver, played by Hunt.
