Students still are wondering when they will receive prioritization results.
Prioritization is the process in which university officials can see where money is being spent in every department on campus. This process has been going on since the beginning of the academic year.
Students were told they would receive results soon in an email sent to the campus community on March 26.
“We are putting so much work and thought into the reports,” said Susan Barber, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “We want to make sure that we are considering all options and hope that the campus can understand that.”
Every academic and support function was required to form a task force and fill out forms indicating their fiscal history and spending patterns and submit the forms to the prioritization committee.
The committee then evaluated the forms and decided on recommendations that were sent back to the academic and support functions to be reviewed and contested. After the recommendations were reviewed by the task forces, they were sent back to the committee.
A preliminary prioritization report was released to faculty and staff in January.
The prioritization committee is reviewing the final reports and will present them at the board of trustee meeting April 22.
“We are just reviewing and reviewing and reviewing and still getting input as of this point,” Barber said.
Barber said that they will work with Student Government Association when it is time to release the report.
“We are all getting anxious about the report,” said Beatrize Martinez, president of SGA. “I think that students and faculty are just ready to hear from them and know what will happen next year.”
