The candidates for Student Government Association’s 2015 election have been announced. There is only one position that has two candidates.
- Brandon Elder, acting freshman, and Nic Rhodes, economics sophomore, are running for Student Senate vice president.
Election campaigns start March 24.
A candidate forum will take place at 6 p.m. March 26 in the Great Hall in Tom and Brenda McDaniel University Center.Students can ask candidates questions at the forum.
Voting starts 8 a.m. March 31 and closes 5 p.m. April 1 via Orgsnyc.
Eight other students applied for positions but were uncontested. If there is only one candidate for an office, then the office may be filled by acclamation, according to the SGA Constitution. The candidates for the office automatically assume the office without a formal election.
Those offices are:
- Chance Johnson, political science junior, received the position of SGA president.
- Mary Ann Grover, marketing junior, received the position of Student Activities Council vice president.
- Arash Allahyar, cell/molecular biology junior, received the position of senior-at-large district senator.
- Hudson Moore, mass communications freshman, received the position of sophomore-at-large district senator.
- Joe Wathika, economic/finance freshman, recieved the position of sophomore-at-large district senator.
- Holly Randal, political science/Spanish freshman, received the position of athletics district senator.
- Patience Williams, English sophomore, received the position of humanities district senator.
- Kyndal Jones, dance management junior, received the position of dance and arts management district senator.
- Jennifer Treloggen, economics freshman, received the position of business district senator.
The students will officially assume their seats for the 2015-2016 academic year at the inauguration ceremony, hosted by SGA, at 7:30 p.m. April 14 in the atrium in Wanda L. Bass Music Center.
