The baseball team came out ahead 7-6 against St. Gregory’s in 10 innings March 12 at Jim Wade Stadium.
OCU tacked on five runs in the first inning and were unable to score again until the sixth. The Stars, ranked 16th in NAIA baseball, improved to 15-5, 3-1 Sooner Athletic Conference baseball.
Senior Connor Lynch singled to the left side of the infield that brought Reggie Wilson home to give the Stars a 1-0 early lead. Later in the first junior J.J. Bissell clobbered a grand slam into right field that extended the lead to 5-0. Bissell’s third home run of the season.
St. Gregory’s tied the game in the ninth on a single from Nick Hoffman that scored two runs.
In the tenth, senior Ryan Wright knocked a double to right field that got to the wall to score Joe Haddox from first.
Junior Dustin Cook started on the mound and pitched six innings, giving up three hits, one earned run, and struck out six.
Junior Migueal Gonzalez improved to 3-0 on the season on two innings of work, gave up one hit, one earned run and struck out three.
The Stars travel to St. Gregory’s for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. March 14 in Shawnee, Okla.
