The annual Big Event will move back on campus this year.
The Student Activities Council elected the theme for this year’s activities as “World’s Fair.” It will be a culturally diverse fair hosted on campus April 23.
Big Event is an event for students coordinated by the Student Activities Committee of the Student Government Association.
Students were given vouchers for Frontier City last year. Students were given a $10 food voucher for dinner in Bricktown in years prior and could choose between seeing a Red Hawks baseball game or watching a movie at Harkins Theater, 150 E. Reno Ave.
The SGA budget is about $18,000 less than it was last year. This made it necessary for the Big Event to move back to campus.
Big Event was moved off campus four or five years ago to change things up a bit, said MaryAnn Grover, marketing junior and vice president of SAC.
The theme varies each year.
“This theme was selected by the Student Activities Council in order to better integrate Multicultural Student Affairs,” Grover said. “Some details are still to be decided, but it’s going to be a big fair on campus.”
Students said they look forward to the event.
“Last year’s Big Event was really fun because I went with fun people,” said Sarah Feist, vocal performance/ music theater sophomore. “It would be fun no matter where it was held because it’s just cool that everyone from OCU is there.”
Freshmen said they also are excited to attend the event this year.
“I’ve never been to one since this is my first year, but I’ve heard about it, and I’m really excited,” said Adrienne Pierce, acting freshman.
