Update: as of 11:15 full power has been restored to campus.
Several campus buildings are without power, HVAC, and hot water after an electrical transformer near campus was damaged.
Buildings without any power include the Wanda L. Bass school of Music, Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Center, Henry J. Freede Wellness Center, Dawson-Loeffler Science and Mathematics Building, and Kramer School of Nursing East and West. Banning, Smith, Draper, Harris, and Methodist Halls are without HVAC or hot water. The dorms still have lighting.
The electrical issue has caused problems for several campus events.
Performances of The Coronation of Poppea and Two Birds and a Stone, by the schools of music and theater respectively, are being postponed until a working performance space can be found.
“We didn’t have the ability to turn the lights back on so we had no other options but to cancel because we can’t perform in the dark,” said Cole Neese, music theater senior. “We know we’ll have a show tomorrow but we don’t know if we’ll have to move to a different performance space.”
Officials from the OCU police department and facilities were unavailable to comment.
