Have you ever dreamed of working at a zoo? If so, the OKC Zoo has a career fair on the wild side just for you.
The OKC Zoo Career Conference will take place at 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the zoo. The conference is open to everyone ages 13 and up, and is free to attend, but zoo admission is not included.
The conference is designed to allow potential zoo workers of many ages to gain insight about the field. The conference will include presentations by current Zoo staff members and information on the unique ways applicants must develop their resumes and interview for zoo-based jobs.
Registration is required, and can be made by calling 405-425-0218.
While the job fair will serve as a community-wide educational event it is also the best way for interested applicants to learn about the field, and to scope out job opportunities at the OKC Zoo.
Currently, the OKC Zoo website lists three available jobs: the deputy director of the zoo position is open as of press time, and the zoo is also looking to hire a part-time marine mammal animal technician. If working a step away from the animals is more your speed, never fear: the zoo also needs an HVAC mechanic and a part-time human resources clerk.
If you’ve ever thought of working with wild animals, here’s your chance!
