Valentine’s Day weekend is sure to bring out the romance in anyone. Here are a few options in the city to entertain you this weekend.
Friday, February 13th
–The Oklahoma City Ballet presents Romeo and Juliet: 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Thelma E. Gaylord Performing Arts Theatre. Revel in the lushly designed setting of Renaissance Italy as you watch a company of talented dancers perform the tragic story of Shakespeare’s famous star-crossed lovers. Of special note: many of the design and production workers of this ballet are OCU students and faculty! Tickets start at $41 and can be purchased here.
Saturday, February 14th
–Monster Jam: 7:30 p.m Saturday, 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. For those who like their love tough, attend one of the biggest monster truck rallies in Oklahoma. The event features national monster truck superstars who will perform daredevil free style tricks and participate in races. Tickets are $10-$40 and can be purchased here.
Sunday, February 15th
–Moliere’s Tartuffe, presented by the OKC Theatre Company: 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday at the CitySpace of Civic Center Music Hall. End your romantic weekend with Moliere’s classic farce about forbidden love, religion, and society. OKC Theatre Company has updated the setting, and the classic naughty priest of the title has more in common with a 1980s televangelist. This show features OCU faculty member Dr. David Pasto as the title character, and OCU acting student Roy Samra in a featured role. Tickets can be purchased here.
