Senior wrestler Emily Webster will fight for her fourth national championship in the Women’s College Wrestling Association Championships.
The championships are at 8 a.m. Feb. 13 and 8:30 a.m. Feb. 14 at Petty Sports and Recreational Complex.
The tournament will be available to follow via live video and live results on Track Wrestling.
Webster and other seniors, Brieana Delgado, Heather O’Connor and Demi Strub, will be attempting to become four-time all-Americans. Second-ranked OCU will try to add to its previous team national titles won in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
The Stars return eight all-Americans from last year’s haul of 14 to fuel a national runner-up finish to King (Tenn.), which is the WCWA’s No. 1-ranked team entering the championships.
“Our expectations are always the same,” Coach Archie Randall said. “We’re trying to win a national championship. We’re in about the same position as last year, and we fell short by two points. Hopefully we can make that deficit up.”
Webster enters the tournament at 27-0 and ranked No. 1 at 101 pounds this season and 114-0 in her OCU career. Webster would be OCU’s first four-time national champion.
