The water main break is repaired and water is restored to campus.
The water main broke around 4 p.m. Jan. 15 and facilities started receiving calls from students, faculty and staff about there not being any water.
Facilities knew about the water main break before receiving the calls, but there was a discrepancy between OCU and the city about whose line it was, said Director of Facilities Mark Clouse.
“The city was trying to claim it was our line instead of theirs,” Clouse said.
OCU used it’s emergency feed to maintain water on campus, until having to shut it off around 8 p.m. because the valves on south side of campus were not able to hold the amount of water.
All the main buildings on campus were affected, but the only housing units that was affected were Walker and Methodist Hall Dormitories.
The facilities team worked until 2 a.m. last night, and returned to work this morning to start cleaning up any dirt or debris from the valves and faucets.
“I just really want to give a shout out to my guys,” Clouse said. “They did a really great job and got a serious repair done quickly.”
