The women’s basketball team defeated USAO 87-51 Thursday, Jan. 8 at USAO Fieldhouse.
The Stars started the game on a 20-0 run. OCU, ranked second in NAIA Division I women’s basketball, improved to 8-1, 3-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, while USAO went to 5-6, 2-1 in SAC play.
Senior Ouleymatou Coulibaly led all scorers with 24 points and eight rebounds. Coulibaly was 9-of-10 shooting from the floor and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Senior Yvonte Neal added 14 points, two assists and two steals. Senior Marisha Wallace scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds in her second appearance for the Stars.
The Stars defense led into many of OCU’s points. They held USAO to 33.3 percent (17-of-51) shooting in the game and forced USAO into 24 turnovers.
The women continue their conference play at 3 p.m. Saturday against Mid-America Christian at Abe Lemons Arena.
