Senior wrestler Emily Webster took her third consecutive 101-pound Waldorf Open title Saturday at Hanson Fieldhouse.
Webster, junior Kayla Aggio at 143 pounds, and sophomores Rachel Archer at 123, Yvonne Galindo at 155 and Cody Pfau at 109 captured tournament crowns for OCU on Saturday. Fourteen Stars placed in the event.
The Stars’ individuals grabbing runner-up at their weights were Brieana Delgado (130), Shelby Morrison (116), Heather O’Connor (191) and Demi Strub (155). Tanalei Louis of OCU took third place at 130.
The Stars’ Carla Ponce picked up fourth at 130, while Heiley Garcia had a fourth-place finish at 143. Shilo Barrett nabbed sixth at 109, and Cassidy Jasperson pulled in sixth at 116.
Webster improved to 112-0 against college competition in her OCU career. Webster won her 11th career tournament title as a Star. Webster won twice by technical fall over Lisa Anderson of Ottawa (Kan.) to secure the championship. Webster, the three-time defending national champion, owns the No. 1 ranking among Women’s College Wrestling Association 101-pounders.
Aggio finished 4-0 on the day with a 6-4 victory over Shai Mason of Jamestown (N.D.). Aggio holds the No. 2 ranking at 143 pounds, while Mason is rated third. Three of Aggio’s wins came by fall.
Archer defeated Christy Powell of Missouri Valley 10-0 in the 123-pound title match. Archer notched two technical-fall wins and a pin Saturday.
Galindo knocked off her teammate Demi Strub 12-6 in the 155-pound title bout. Galindo added a fall and a technical-fall win en route to the title.
Pfau pinned Christina Bautista of Missouri Valley to win the crown. Pfau, the No. 1-ranked 109-pounder in the WCWA, rolled to three falls on the day.
The Stars compete in the NWCA National Duals on Jan. 9-10 in Fort Wayne, Ind. The Stars own NWCA National Dual titles won in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
