OCU received five all-Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball performers, including first teamers senior Meghan Irwin and sophomore Kristen Macy.
Irwin became OCU’s first four-time all-SAC honoree in Volleyball. Junior Taylor Chase took second-team all-SAC honors, while freshman Holly Randall and senior Kelley Shiels were among the honorable-mention all-conference players.
Irwin finished the regular season as OCU’s leader in block with 72, block per set with 0.68 and match starts with 30. She rang up 3.04 kills, 1.47 digs and 3.50 points a set as well as a 0.235 hitting percentage.
In OCU history, Irwin is one of four to take three all-league nods along with Alex Benbrook (2009-11), Whitney Kress (2006-08) and Xiaoting Ma (2008-10). Irwin reeled in second-team all-conference honors the past two years and honorable-mention acclaim as a freshman.
Irwin accumulated a season-high 21 kills against John Brown University on Oct. 14, 19 digs against St. Gregory’s University on Oct. 7 and nine blocks against Northwestern Oklahoma State University Sept. 11. She became SAC player of the week Oct. 13-19 and league hitter of the week Oct. 20-26.
Macy proved the Stars with 3.84 kills and 4.29 points per set as well as 388 kills, 31 aces and 433.5 points. Macy added 2.94 digs, 0.31 aces and 0.26 blocks a set.
Macy’s high performances this season were 26 kills against Benedictine College Sept. 26 and 24 digs against Northwestern Oklahoma State University Sept. 11. She reeled in conference player of the week Oct. 20-26 and SAC hitter of the week Oct. 27- Nov. 2.
Chase posted 9.37 assists, 1.94 digs, 1.26 kills, 0.38 blocks and 0.38 aces per set. Chase achieved her season highs with 47 assists and 16 digs at Oklahoma Baptist University Oct. 23. She racked up SAC setter of the week for Aug. 25-31.
Randall produced 1.09 kills, 0.69 blocks and 1.51 points a set. She had 11 kills against Mid-America Christian University Sept. 25, and seven blocks on two occasions.
Shiels averaged 3.96 digs and 0.12 aces per set. Shiels was SAC libero of the week Sept. 1-7 and 15-21. She recorded the 12th 30-dig performance in OCU history with 31 against Evangel University Sept. 6.
