–Opening Weekend at the Devon Ice Rink: 3 p.m.-11 p.m., at Myriad Gardens. The annual holiday tradition opens in Myriad Gardens this weekend. Bundle up and visit the biopark for a full-size skating rink with spectacular views of the city. $12 for skates and skating, or $8 if you have your own skates. The event will run through the winter.
—Thoroughly Modern Millie at the Poteet Theatre: 8 p.m. Friday, 9 p.m. Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday, at the Poteet Theatre, 222 NW 15th St. Thoroughly Modern Millie is a unique musical set in the madcap world of New York City in the swinging ’20s. Filled with flappers, mobsters, and rousing tap dance numbers, this is the show that launched the career of famous Broadway star Sutton Foster. Many OCU students are featured in the show, including senior music theater student Kaley Were as the title role. Tickets are $25. More information can be found at the Poteet website.
–Live on the Plaza “Snuggle Up on the Plaza”: 7-11 p.m. NW 16th between Classen and Penn. This month’s LotP event features a large campfire, s’mores, food trucks, and live entertainment. Visit the website for more information.
Saturday, Nov. 15
–Statehood Day Festival: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gaylord Pickens Oklahoma Heritage Museum. Celebrate the 107th anniversary of Oklahoma statehood. Visit the museum for free exhibits, food stalls, and a sidewalk sale at the Museum Store. Admission is free.
—Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike: Opens Nov. 13 and plays through Nov. 23. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30, Saturday and Sunday at 1:30, CitySpace at the Civic Center Music Hall. Visit the Civic Center Music Hall to watch Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre’s production of Christopher Durang’s new play, featuring several OCU performers. The play follows the story of step-siblings Sonia and Vanya, who have never left their family home. Hilarity ensues when their lives are crashed by their glamorous movie star sister Masha and her new boy-toy, Spike. Tickets are $35 and can be bought at the Civic Center website.
Sunday, Nov. 16
–Mannheim Steamroller Christmas: 3 p.m. at Civic Center Music Hall. Watch Christmas rock legends Mannheim Steamroller as they present their unique blend of classic and electric Christmas and holiday tunes at the Civic Center. The show features a huge symphonic orchestra as well as lasers and lights. Tickets can be purchased at the Civic Center website.
–Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Houston Rockets: 6 p.m. at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. Watch the OKC Thunder take on the Houston Rockets at the Thunder Dome. Tickets can be found online at the Thunder website.
