The OCU Women’s Basketball team lost 102-56 to Texas A&M on Sunday, Nov. 9 at the Erwin Center in Austin, TX.
The Stars are ranked number one in their NAIA Division I. They traveled to Texas this weekend to play exhibition games against Texas A&M and University of Texas.
Head coach Latricia Trammell said that she was pleased with the way the team played.
“This was a great opportunity for us to play two of the best teams in the country,” Trammell said. “We will go back to the drawing board, get back to practice and correct our weaknesses that they exposed.”
Trammell also said that the women played at a disadvantage this weekend, as several of their players could not travel to Texas.
“I appreciate the fight our team displayed over the weekend,” Trammell said. “We had several players having to play in different positions due to our lack of post players this weekend.”
Texas scored the first seven points of the game, before OCU cut their lead 42-33 at the halftime. The Texas team came back strong in the second half, scoring many points quickly.
The OCU Women begin their regular season at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 against Langston University in Langston, OK.
