The Stars Men’s Soccer team advanced to the second round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament with a close win over Mid-America Christian University on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Stars Field.
The Stars started off the game slowly, and Mid-America scored the first goal of the game. Mid-America led 1-0 into halftime.
OCU finally scored during the 71st minute, after Ruy Vaz, senior, was able to score. Jeffrey Matthews, a freshman and new member of the team, scored the winning goal in the 86th minute. He scored on a head ball, his second goal of the season. He was assisted in the score by Logan Stewart, a fellow freshman.
Vladimir Kalajdic, a freshman goalie for the Stars, saved six hits on the Stars goal.
OCU will face off against Texas Wesleyan this Tuesday.
