The Alpha Phi sorority took home the overall sweepstakes award for the Homecoming 2014 competition.
The competition concluded Nov 9. in the Henry J. Freede Wellness and Activity Center with the Lip Sync competition and awards ceremony.
Tanner Bradshaw, acting senior and Lambda Chi Alpha member, and Savannah Jackson, acting senior and Gamma Phi Beta member, were crowned Homecoming King and Queen by President Robert Henry and first lady Jan Henry.
The awards distributed were:
First place in Banner – Kappa Sigma
First place in Window – Alpha Phi
First place in Spirit Structure – Lambda Chi Alpha
First place in Lip Sync – Alpha Phi
Sweepstakes – Alpha Phi.
The women of Alpha Phi also won People’s Choice for their Peter Pan lip sync routine.
Alpha Chi Omega took home the spirit award for the third year in a row.
Alex Johnson, entertainment business senior and member of the homecoming committee, said the process of the event went very smooth compared to past years.
“It went really well,” Johnson said. “It was much more organized than last year. I think everyone had fun, and that’s the main goal.”
