Fire fighters responded to calls reporting smoke behind Cokesbury Court apartments Wednesday afternoon.
Three calls were made to the Oklahoma City Fire Department around 3:30, Battalion Chief Todd Matthews said.
“It was clear which house they were referring to when we pulled up,” Matthews said.
Fire fighters entered the house in the 2500 block on N. Virginia Ave. The occupant of the house was not present at the time of the fire.
Matthews said the cause of the fire appears to be electrical and was confined to the attic.
“It’s hard to say, but I would estimate about $20,000 in damages,” Matthews said.
No one was injured in the process of dousing the flames.
Whether the university owns the property is unclear at this time.
Virginia Ave. was shut down as crews worked to put out the fire.
The house is located next to the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity house. The flames did not spread to any surrounding buildings.
