Director of First Year Experiences and Student Disability Services Coordinator Lee Hall retired Oct. 31.
Hall announced her retirement Oct. 1.
Although Friday was technically her last day, she is continuing to work Tuesdays and Thursdays until the position is filled to make sure that the services are still provided for students. While doing that, Hall will keep her same location, room 438 in the Clara E. Jones Administration Building, as well as her contact info.
The position will be posted soon, and human resources, in conjunction with the provost’s office, are working on finding a replacement for Hall.
“Lee will be hard to replace not just because of the outstanding employee and advocate for OCU and OCU students that she was,” said Kent Buchanan, assistant provost and professor of biology. “But also because her unique abilities allowed her to be not only our First Year Experience coordinator for several years, but more recently she has taken on the role of coordinator of Student Disability Services.”
Hall had been thinking about retiring since her husband, Rick Hall, retired last June, but wanted to wait until the least disruptive time. This time of the year allows for a smoother transition for administration and students, Hall said.
President Robert Henry was unaware Hall was retiring, but said that he assumes it is due to her husband’s retirement.
“Her husband retired last year, and I imagine they want to spend more time together,” Henry said. “Lee has done fabulous work here, and I certainly wish her the best.”
Liz Donnelly, vice president for student affairs and dean of students, refused to comment on Hall’s retirement.
Susan Barber, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Colbi Beam, Assistant Director for Student Development were unavailable for comment.
“I am grateful I have had the opportunity to be a part of the OCU community for the last five and a half years,” Hall said. “I have really enjoyed getting to know and work with all of the faculty, staff and students.”
