An OCU student will appear in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame’s fundraising campaign to raise money for updates.
Emily Webster, senior captain of the women’s wrestling team, is featured at the end of the campaign’s video, asking for donations for the fundraiser.
The campaign’s purpose is to raise $6 million to update and expand the National Wrestling Hall of Fame’s locations in Stillwater, Okla., and Waterloo, Iowa.
People from all aspects of the wrestling world were featured in the video, but Webster was the only student wrestler.
The National Wrestling Hall of Fame is a nonprofit organization that relies on donations to preserve the history of the sport.
“Wrestling has given me a lot of opportunities, and the sport itself has given me so much, to be able to give back to that is amazing,” Webster said.
Coach Archie Randall said he is proud to have one of his wrestlers featured in a national campaign.
“No other student that I know of has gotten an opportunity like this before, and I think it’s great for Emily,” Randall said. “She is a dedicated wrestler and captain, and she deserves it.”
Webster said she thinks the campaign is a unique opportunity for OCU and the wrestling program.
“It really helps our image and puts us in the forefront,” Webster said.
It has not been determined when Webster’s portion of the video will air.
