OCU was ranked as one of the best universities in the western United States.
College Choice, a website which publishes rankings of schools for prospective students, named OCU to their list of Best Western Regional Universities last week. OCU was the only school in Oklahoma to make the list. The school was ranked 31 in a list of 50 schools.
College Choice forms its rankings based off surveys from college freshmen, which include criteria like academic reputation, financial aid offerings, overall cost and graduate success.
OCU achieved its ranking through its financial aid generosity: the site stated that “of the 69 percent of students who applied for financial aid, an impressive 84 percent have their financial needs met in full.” The website also cited “unique learning initiatives” like the honors program and OCULeads as a reason for attending.
In a statement in response to the ranking, President Robert Henry said that the ranking was a testament to student’s confidence in OCU.
“We are thrilled to be on the College Choice list, especially because it’s the students themselves indicating what they think of Oklahoma City University,” Henry said. “Their opinions validate what makes this university great and the reason we’re so highly regarded by other independent research organizations, including the U.S. News & World Report.”
