Brian Parsons, associate dean of the OCU School of Theatre, will host a reception and pre-show discussion with Donald Jordan, founding Artistic Director of CityRep Theatre, for the current production of John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath.
The event will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Sept. 17 in the Wanda Bass Atrium inside the Wanda L. Bass School of Music. The reception and discussion will take place before the show, which begins at 8:00 p.m.
The reception will also serve as an introduction of Parsons to the OCU community. The new dean was hired in the spring of 2014. Dean Parsons relocated to Oklahoma from Shropshire, England, this summer, and began serving as Dean this semester.
Before coming to Oklahoma, Parsons led the undergraduate and graduate theatre programs at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, and at the University of Southern California.
The Grapes of Wrath is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, a major factor in the decision to put on the play this semester. The play is co-produced by TheatreOCU, CityRep, and the Oklahoma History Center. The performance features OCU students, along with actors from the Oklahoma City community.
To reserve a spot at the reception, please call the OCU Alumni Office at 405-208-5077, or email at alumni@okcu.edu.
The Grapes of Wrath will run from Sept. 25 to Oct. 5, with performances at 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings, and performances at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. For ticket prices and discounts, please call the OCU Performing Arts Ticket Office at 405-208-5227.
