- Matt Stone and Trey Parker have taken aim at the Washington Redskins in the teaser for the new season of South Park. The NFL team recently lost its name’s trademark, which a U.S. patent office ruled “disparaging to Native Americans.” The new season of South Park will premiere during the Redskins-Eagles game on Wednesday at 10 pm ET. - Sources say that Joseph Gordon-Levitt may NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden to life onscreen in Oliver Stone’s new film The Snowden Files. Snowden is a former U.S. intelligence analyst who released classified documents and has since been on the run. Stone will write and direct the film based on Time of the Octopus, which was written by Snowden’s lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena. For more on the project, click here.
- Angelina Jolie has been selected to direct Eric Roth’s Africa. Roth’s script is based on the true story of paleoanthropologist Richard Leakey, who fought against ivory poachers to preserve the continent’s elephant population. “I’ve felt a deep connection to Africa and its culture for much of my life, and was taken with Eric’s beautiful script about a man drawn into the violent conflict with elephant poachers who emerged with a deeper understanding of man’s footprint and a profound sense of responsibility for the world around him,” Jolie said.
