Kayle Marshall, OCU senior, was selected as an OKC Thunder Girl for the 2014-2015 season.She has been selected as one of eight new women joining the 20 member squad.
Marshall is a senior education major at OCU, and has been a member of the OCU Pom Squad since her freshman year. During her time on the squad, Marshall earned six All-American nods and competed with the Stars in three national championships.
In a press release from Aug. 8, Marshall said she was thankful to her experience at OCU.
“I am so excited to be a part of the Thunder organization, and I am grateful that my years on OCU pom has prepared me for this opportunity,” Marshall said. “The support from both my coaches and administration has been overwhelming. I’m still in complete shock that I made the team, and I can’t wait to see how my life is about to change.”
In the press release, Coach Brandy Corcoran said she was proud of Marshall’s “character and confidence” during the tryouts.
“She had proven to be a leader the last four years as an OCU Star, and I am proud to see that being carried into the Thunder organization,” Corcoran said.
Marshall attended an open session audition on Aug. 2, where she was chosen as one of 35 finalists. She participated in the final audition (which consisted of a choreographed routine, solo dance session, and question-and-answer session) at Riverwind Casino on Aug. 7.
The Thunder Girls participate in more than 200 performances each year, both at games and while serving as community ambassadors.
