Two cars were burglarized Tuesday night in the Cokesbury Court apartments parking lot.
The OCU police department responded to calls at 11 p.m. and midnight from students who reported items missing from their cars. In both cases, police are unsure if the cars were unlocked before the burglary.
Bradd Brown, chief of police, said students can help protect themselves from burglary.
“We want to encourage students to lock their cars and doors,” Brown said.
Police also found a car had the back window shattered. It is not clear if the damage is part of a botched burglary or a result of high heat.
Additional patrol cars have been dispatched to Cokesbury Court, and the area is being regularly monitored.
Brown said that students are encouraged to inform police immediately if they see anything suspicious anywhere on campus.
“We cannot be everywhere,’ Brown said. “Our dispatch are available 24/7.”
The OCU police department located in room 320 in the Clara E. Jones Administration Building. The emergency phone number is (405) 208-5911, and the non-emergency phone number is (405) 298- 5001.
