- Johnny Depp’s upcoming action-comedy Mortdecai has been set for a February 2016 U.S. release. The film is based on Kyril Bonfigliol’s novel trilogy and features Depp in a race to locate a stolen painting that could contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold. - Ron Howard will helm Warner Bros.’ murder mystery The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair. The film will be based on Joel Dicker’s novel of the same name, which will be published by Penguin in may. The story follows a novelist who heads to New Hampshire to solve a decades-old murder case — with his former college professor and mentor accused of perpetrating the crime. - Meg Ryan will narrate the story of How I Met Your Dad, CBS’ upcoming How I Met Your Mother spinoff. Greta Gerwig has already been cast in the lead role, with HIMYM co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas and Modern Family scribe Emily Spivey writing the pilot. - William Hurt has pulled out of Midnight Rider after a train accident during filming took the life of second camera assistant Sarah Jones. The crew was filming a dream sequence on a bridge when a train unexpectedly came down the tracks, killing Jones and injuring seven others. Hurt was also on the bridge when the accident occurred.
