- Chicago musician Chance the Rapper missed his scheduled performance on the last day of Coachella due to hospitalization. Particulars of his medical condition are unknown. Hours before the performance was set to begin, a since-removed photo appeared on his Instagram with a caption that read “Pray for my boy chance,” after which the cancellation was announced via Twitter. - Although Quentin Tarantino said he had “no desire” to make The Hateful Eight after the screenplay was leaked in January, he announced otherwise at a reading of the screenplay at L.A.’s Ace Hotel. “This is the first draft,” he said, noting that a second and third were in the works. - Rush Hour producer Arthur Sarkissian is developing a film adaptation of Lisa Barr’s debut novel Fugitive Colors, about the 1930s art world in Paris. - The Weinstein Company’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II: The Green Destiny is set to begin shooting in China and New Zealand later this year. Action choreographer Yuen Woo-Ping will helm the film, and Donnie Yen and Michelle Yeoh will star. The film will be a prequel to the original Ang Lee-directed film.
