- CBS has named Stephen Colbert to succeed David Letterman on The Late Show. He will be leaving the right-wing caricature he plays in The Colbert Report behind. “Simply being a guest on David Letterman’s show has been a highlight of my career,” he said in a statement. “I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave’s lead.” To read more on Colbert’s transition to late-night, click here.
- Lost actress Emilie de Ravin has been cast opposite Finn Wittrock in upcoming indie drama The Submarine Kid. The film will be directed by Eric Bilitch from a script he co-wrote with Wittrock. The story follows a U.S. Marine, played by Wittrock, who returns home from war and finds himself drawn to a mysterious woman, played by de Ravin. For more on the film, click here.
- X-Men franchise producers are considering a spinoff for Jennifer Lawrence’s character, Mystique. “I love what Jen Lawrence has done with her, and I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there’s so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo,” said X-Men: First Class writer-producer Simon Kinberg. - Pierce Brosnan spy thriller November Man has been slated for an August 27 U.S. release.
