OCU women’s golf team won its third consecutive conference title in the Sooner Athletic Conference women’s golf championship Tuesday at the Tascosa Gold Club’s LaPaloma Course.
Elia Folch, senior, won her second SAC individual crown in a row. Laura Jones and Emily Alberktson are also two-time SAC individual champions. This is Folch’s fourth win of the season and fifth of her career.
OCU is ranked second in the NAIA. This is OCU’s 12th league championship in 14 years.
“I am extremely proud of this group,” OCU coach Marty McCauley said. “The conditions were tough today, and they all fought through the adversity well. I’m also very proud of Elia. She is a very deserving conference champion.”
Caroline Goodin, freshman, finished third. Goodin became the SAC freshman of the year.
Coach McCauley was named the SAC coach of the year for the second year in a row.
Anna Mikish, freshman, finished sixth and Katie-Lee Wilson, freshman, tied for eighth. Kailey Campbell, freshman, tied for 13th and individual Abby Thompson shot an 82-77-159.
