I’ve been working pretty steady here for the last three or four years, and then this bit came along and it was so empathetically explained to me. … I got to play a villain with a heart and superpowers. - Piers Morgan wrapped his three-year run with CNN with a speech about gun control. Though most of the final Piers Morgan Live broadcast featured discussion about the missing Malaysia Airlines plane, Morgan’s four-minute final remarks were about the NRA. “I assumed that after 70 people were shot in a movie theater, and then, just a few months later, 20 first-graders were murdered with an assault rifle in an elementary school, the absurd gun laws in this country would change,” he said. “But nothing has happened. The gun lobby in America, led by the NRA, has bullied this nation’s politicians into cowardly, supine silence. Even when 20 young children are blown away in their classrooms. This is a shameful situation that has made me very angry.” To see the video and read a transcript of the speech, click here.
