- Idris Elba is in final talks to join the cast of Disney’s animated The Jungle Book reboot, directed by Jon Favreau. Elba would voice Shere Khan the tiger. - FX has ordered two more seasons of hit animated series Archer. Seven episodes remain of season 5, which will wrap up on April 21. The show ranks as the second highest-rated comedy in basic cable among adults 18-49 and adults 18-34. To read more on the series, click here.
- Disney Interactive is eliminating 700 jobs, or about 26% of its total workforce. The company runs Disney.com and the Playdom group, which produces games for social media platforms. “Disney Interactive has consolidated several lines of business as part of an effort to focus the division on a streamlined suite of high-quality digital products,” the company said in a statement. “As a result of this restructuring, we have undergone a reduction in workforce. These actions were difficult but necessary given our long-term strategy focused on sustainable profitability and innovation.” For more information, click here.
- Renee Zellweger is in final negotiations to join Daniel Craig in upcoming indie courtroom thriller The Whole Truth. Courtney Hunt will direct from a script by Nicholas Kazan. Though plot details have not yet been released, it is known that Craig will play a lawyer and that the film will be set in Boston. To read more on the project, click here.
