Platinum Dunes, Mandalay Pictures and Universal have selected Dutch filmmaker Diederik Van Rooijen to direct a remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. The Notebook director Nick Cassavetes has signed on to direct indie Wall Street thriller Carousel. Cassavetes and Mike Marvin will polish the script, written by Alan Saretsky based on his own rags-to-riches story of Wall Street success. French actor Guillaume Gallienne’s directorial debut Me, Myself and Mum took home top prizes at the 39th Cesar film awards. The film, which is based on Gallienne’s stage show of the same name, was given awards for best film, actor, first film, adapted screenplay and editing. Other winners of the night include Roman Polanski for best director for Venus in Fur and Adele Exarchopoulous for best newcomer for Blue is the Warmest Color. For more on the awards, click here.
Brian F. O’Byrne is set to join the cast of upcoming ABC drama Exposed, starring Game of Thrones actor Pedro Pascal as a dogged investigative reporter. O’Byrne is currently on Broadway, starring opposite Debra Messing in the Manhattan Theatre Club production of John Patrick Shanley’s new play Outside Mullingar.
