A new study conducted by the Journal of Management Inquiry suggests that while actresses in their 20s earn more than their male counterparts, the ratio reverses once they hit their mid-30s. “While the difference is fairly small, it’s indicative of the other side of the double standard,” said one of the study’s authors, Notre Dame professor Timothy Judge. “Women are evaluated more on their beauty than are men, and if beauty is defined in part by youth, then this rather explains why — in appearance-based occupations — young women are more valued than young men.” To read more on the study, click here.
Game of Thrones actor Ed Skrein is set to succeed Jason Statham in EuropaCorp’s upcoming reboot of the Transporter franchise. “We searched everywhere to find a fresh face who had the potential to become an action movie star and we’ve found the right match with Ed Skrein, who’s not only a great actor but also has enough charisma and physical stamina to play Frank Martin [the series’ main character] with brio,” said EuropaCorp CEO Christophe Lambert. CNN has removed Anderson Cooper’s AC360 Later from its primetime lineup. Though the show’s ratings were acceptable, it never became one of the channel’s regular features.
